Centre de Flacq is the biggest village and the administrative centre on the eastern coast of the island. There is always a festive atmosphere there with people doing their shopping every day and this is not by chance. Everything can be found at Centre de Flacq where you are sure to make good deals. The village has everything that can be expected from a modern town: a post office, Banks, a hospital, pharmacies, primary, secondary and technical schools, shops, supermarkets, clothes and ready-made garments shops, a permanent trade fair, a good bus service, taxis to bring you anywhere on the  island, petrol stations and restaurants for fast food or for a gastronomic feast, a police station, a district court, fire brigade.

Fifteen minutes from Centre de Flacq is Belle Mare which has the most visited public beach on the east coast. Next to this beach, one can find some of the best Mauritian hotels of the Sun International group, like the Coco Beach and the Saint Géran without forgetting the Belle Mare Plage Hotel, the Ambre Hotel, the Residence and the latest Mauritian five star hotel, the Prince Maurice, amongst others. Some of these hotels have high level golf courses which are not all reserved for hotel residents. It is good to know that the Coco Beach Hotel also has a hippic club for those who like riding. Next to Belle Mare there is the Touesrock hotel which also manages the island of Ile aux Cerfs, especially favoured by tourists for sunbathing.

FUEL, the biggest sugar factory of the island is ten minutes inland from Centre de Flacq. The factory can be visited with a guide on request. A night visit may  prove to be very spectacular. FUEL also produces its own energy from the sugar cane bagasse.
