Visitors who have come for short business stays prefer to be in town where they find it easier to establish contacts, keep appointments and do their job.

Those who come on longer stays for real holidays or business can choose hotels with or near beaches. Most hotels in Mauritius have air-conditioned rooms and are equipped with a television set and a telephone. Some higher standard hotels have tennis courts, golf play-ground, casinos and swimming pools. They also provide nightly entertainment, watersports and diving facilites.
