With the introduction of Win95 many software developers stopped their
DOS efforts. You may have to search thoroughly to find nice DOS
software. Here are the best things i've found so far.
ARACHNE browser
|
Very nice graphical WWW browser for DOS. An ongoing development of
the Czech DOS friend Michael Polak. His browser supports many of
today's standards as HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, MIME 1, PPP. Easily
configurable, usable with dial up internet, and on a LAN.
Free for non commercial use You also

FastFlip

Task Switcher for DOS. DOS is not a 'multitasking' OS, but do you
need real time multitasking on your stand alone computer?
With this task switcher you can run several programs
simultaneously, that is, only the current task actually 'runs
', the others are 'waiting'. It's nice, but crashes once
in a wile...

Fractint
|
A fractal creating program. A fractal is an image based on an
infinitive mathematical calculation. You can influence the fractal
by choosing an other colour palette, or by changing the parameters
of the used formula. You can save the resulting image as a GIF
file.

GIF Tools
|
GIF Tools contain 2 programs: GIF Make and GIF Info. GIF Info gives
information about a GIF image (size, no of colours used, ...). With
GIF Make you can make an ANIMATED GIF out of a number of normal
GIF's. It's also usable to make TRANSPARENT GIF's from normal
GIF's. GIFMake is NO drawing program, you'll need another program
to make the GIF's you want to animate.

Neopaint
|
Good & understandable drawing program. It reads & writes GIF, BMP
and PCX formats. It allows you to work at more that 1 image at a
time. It's easy to use, and more powerful than Windows's
paint.

DAMP
|
The nicest MP3 player i've found so far. It's capable of
visualizing the music played, it fills the screen with
colours & patterns, changing in sync with the music.
Playlist files are supported, but even easier, hit
"DAMP C:\MP3\*.MP3" to play all the MP3's in the specified
directory.
