Exam 1 Prep

This information is based on the new text phased in this semester, The notes on reserve refect the previous textbook used for 3 years and may be of some value with a slightly different approach and order of presentation. Your new text (Strategic management an Integrated Approach by Hill and Jones, 4th ed.) is reflected here and in class. Breadth,scope and depth of treatment has to have balance in a captone sythesis and Integration(primarily) approach to deal with case Analysis. Some review of theory is also appropriate because you have been recently focusing on functional areas before entering this course.
In class I may set up a theses set of notes go over them and then lauch into detail trying to determine what the class as a whole needs. Some of you know bits and pieces some most some very little. Where to draw the line is a call I need to make every week.
The exercises, web assignments, mini cases and activities are selected to give hands on application of theory. Computer lab time will need to be done on your time when we deal with depth and detailed review of past concepts and terminology to bring the class up to a norm inorder to handle case analysis. Some of this you have to be responsible for in order to get the essence of the cases for analysis.
Exam 1 samples your knowledge and understanding C1-C5 and assigned case at a senior level. Keep in mind this same material is available at the capstone level for MBA programs using the same text where a higher level of Integrating an understanding of the particuliar MBA Course work.
