Language Activities Using Kid Pix

Storywriting

* After students have drawn a picture, it can be very motivating for them to write about it. Drawings can be saved in PICT format and imported into wordprocessing/DTP documents. I am writing this as a Mac user, however I am assuming it would be the same for the PC users.

* Typing with Kid Pix - When selecting the alphabet stamps, holding down the option key (on the Mac, not sure what it is on a PC) will give you typing capabilities. The wordprocessing capabilities are limited, however you can get some very attractive results. We have written simple letters, captions for posters, and captions for children's drawings using this method.

* Picto-letters - Using the stamps with the typing (as outlined above) can give you the opportunity of using stamps instead of, or beside, words. This can be a fun activity for all ages.

Slide Shows

* We used Kid Pix Studio slideshow module (you can also use Kid Pix Companion) to create a slide show about us which you can download.

* You could also create scenes from a story and use the slideshow as a sequencing activity.
