Backyard Strut BACKYARD STRUT was established in 1993. This band has continued to perform classic blues, rock standards and originals to a steadily growing following. Their 1996 self titled CD has been well received in Central Mass. and received a highly favorable review in the musicians trade magazine "Northeast Performer". The CD was the number one new blues album in Canada where it was on heavy rotation on the radio for most of 1996 and 1997. Above all, Backyard Strut is known as a band that delivers "good time music". The common thread of wit and fun has run through the band's entire history. The high musical standards have never faltered even through changes in personnel. Notable former Backyard Strut players who contributed greatly to the sound, charisma and growth of the band include guitarist Glenn Johnson and Harmonica player Warren "Wild Jelly" Bachman. The band's founding members, Jim Sharp (drums, & vocals. band leader) and Keith Sivret (guitar, vocals )are relentless in continuing the pursuit of excellence with the present line-up. Jim LaFlamme took over the lead guitar position in early 1996. Karl Igler, the band's best bass player to date, joined Backyard Strut in late 1997. Both Karl and Jim LaFlamme sing, adding to the new color to the band's vocal spectrum. Work on the band's second CD started in January 1999. The project was completed late the following summer. The new CD is called "Emotional Skies" and is now available.
