I phoned to Polygram Italy to hear about the schedule for Psycho Circus releases. I was told that, due to a delay, the single will be published in mid september, probably only one week before the release of the album (scheduled for September 21).

The also confirmed that "In your face" will not be included in the Italian version of Psycho Circus and that no special package edition is planned apart from the 3D worldwide version.

The PC single was in stores monday, 14. September. It includes: 1. radio edit version of Psycho Circus (4:05) 2. collectoers version of Raise Your Glasses (4:11) 3. full version of Psycho Circus (5:30) 4. Virgin Records in Vancouver,B.C. will be giving away 100 free T-shirts with the purchase of Psycho Circus. Black Diamond will also be playing live in the store Sept 21, before the new record is released at 12.01am Sept 22. Shirts will also be given out for best dressed and they will have a draw for a trip for two for the Halloween show.

The second KISS magazine from Starlog is simply called "KISS" and will be on stands 10/27. It contains four exclusive interviews with the band. The publication is band-authorized.

The first real promotion for "Psycho Circus" appeared here last week. Ace is full-cover on "Young Guitar" magazine. The article is an interview with Ace and Paul, and contains several photos of the band in their new costumes. Music and lyrics for "Love Gun" are featured. There's also a full-page ad for "Psycho Circus" in the magazine. It notes the release date (9/18) and says that the first issue in Japan will have special packaging.

Kiss is also full-cover on "Music Life." The article inside includes updates and history, and a few pictures of the band in the new get-ups. There's a full-page ad for "Psycho Circus" on the back cover, the same one that's in "Young Guitar."

A new full-color, magazine/book about KISS has also been released here recently. It's simply called "KISS," and is basically a history book with lots of photos from all phases of the band up to the reunion. KISS is also featured in The Ho No O, a monthly rock magazine. KISS is the cover story, and takes up 48 pages in this issue. There are several new photos of the band by Barry Levin and lots of others from the Japan tours of '77 and '78. One section is called "KISS Wonderland," and details the merchandising blitz of the late 1970s and the general "mania" that surrounded the band in Japan and around the world. In the front pages is a fold out black-and-white ad for "Psycho Circus." Also, KISS Otaku is mentioned on a list of "the best" Internet sites devoted to KISS.

HMV, Tower Records and Virgin Megastore have fallen into line: All have posted Friday, September 18, as the release date for "Psycho Circus" in Japan.

My Japanese isn't very good, but I could read on the hand-written announcement at Virgin that there will be a "Paul Stanley tattoo replica" included with the CD.

Just wanted to let you know that the PC single is the #1 requested song on KKEG 92.1 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The DJ last nite on his program said it has been #1 for several days. They have a show that runs from 10:00 -11:00 PM and the play all the top 10 requests for the day.

Upcoming Kiss feature slated to be a cover story in "Goldmine" (issue date November 20th # 478). The issue will hit newsstands around Halloween.

This is another very comprehensive piece which features extensive interviews with all four members. They spoke about the new CD, the tour, their early bands, rare unreleased songs and much more. Fans will also be interested in hearing Gene's thoughts on the Kiss internet world.

Also to be included with the single will be the video for "Psycho Circus" with 3-D glasses.

Four different covers will be made for the single, one for each member.

Kiss Reunion LP Leaked In Full On The Net World Wide Web piracy taken to new level as the flashy metal band's latest release is posted in its entirety. Staff Writer Chris Nelson reports:

The first album in nearly two decades from the original lineup of costumed '70s pop-metal rockers Kiss isn't due in stores until Sept. 22, but the highly anticipated 10-song disc, Psycho Circus, has already been making its way -- in its entirety -- round the Internet.

While the past year has seen the unauthorized circulation of pre-released tracks from albums by major artists including Pearl Jam, Madonna and Eric Clapton, the posting online of an entire rock album as a series of downloadable audio files known as MP3s takes Internet piracy to a new level.

Kiss fan Peter Eklund said he thinks Psycho Circus is one of the best albums Kiss have ever made. That's why, on Aug. 16, he posted the album's 10 songs to his "Kiss Starlight" website. "I got a lot of good response," said Eklund, 23, of Melbourne, Fla. "People are thanking me for the files because it's been hard to get them."

One group not about to start thanking the fan sites responsible for the leak, however, is the Recording Industry Association of America. In the past week, the trade group has shut down two websites with full copies of Psycho Circus, as well as another webpage with links to one of those sites, according to Frank Creighton, RIAA vice president and associate director of anti-piracy.

Like many fans, Eklund came across his copies of the Psycho Circus songs on a site called "Roth's Kiss Rendezvous," which he said posted the songs on Aug. 11. It was one of the sites closed by the RIAA. "Kiss Rendezvous" creator Roth said Wednesday (Sept. 1) that he intended no harm with the posting. "I just wanted to promote the album, not take away from sales," he said. To do that, the 31-year-old webmaster, who did not reveal his full name, said that he deliberately muffled his copy of the songs and even cut some of the songs short.

Still, for many eager Kiss fans, Roth's posting was more than they could have hoped for. Although the charter members of the band toured in 1996 to sell-out crowds, the original Kiss lineup of Gene Simmons (vocals, bass), Paul Stanley (guitar), Ace Frehley (guitar) and Peter Criss (drums) has not released a studio album since 1980's Unmasked. While the band is best known for its early tunes, such as "Christine Sixteen" (RealAudio excerpt) and "Plaster Caster" (RealAudio excerpt), new tracks such as "Psycho Circus" and "I Pledge Allegiance (to the State of Rock 'n' Roll)" play on the same pop-anthem style that made Kiss one of the most popular bands of the '70s.

"You have the old stuff and the new," said Eklund, who has followed the group, known as much for their flashy costumes, makeup and stage show as for their cult following, since he was 8 years old. "It's still in the '90s, but you also have the impression from the '70s."

While posting an entire album for download is rare, Creighton said, he added that the popular soundtrack for the smash movie "Titanic" was also available on the Web as MP3s before its release. "It's an alarming situation because it's happening more and more; people become more familiar with the Internet and MP3 technology," Creighton said.

The RIAA's robot Web searcher first came across the Kiss material last week. "The minute we find pre-released material, we then program the Web crawler to look for additional sites with that material," Creighton said.

In addition, the trade group has also begun encouraging record companies to inform it of radio and retail release dates, album titles and track listings, so the organization can begin searching for upcoming work before unauthorized copies proliferate on the Net.

The RIAA has yet to determine the original source of the Kiss leak -- Roth said his copy of the Kiss album files was e-mailed to him anonymously. Whether an album hits the Web in its entirety depends primarily how it ended up in the hands of fans. When a single song turns up, it is often due to a radio station airing a song ahead of schedule, which is taped by fans and then posted on the Net. If the whole album is online, it may point to a leak from a retail source that obtained an earlier copy of the disc, Creighton said.

Kiss representatives from Mercury Records did not return calls by press time.

Meanwhile, Eklund said he has yet to be contacted by either Mercury or the RIAA about his website. As much as he'd hate to do it, though, he said he'll remove his copy of Psycho Circus from the Net if asked. "It's nothing to make a fight about," he said.
