Federal Census Records
1790 - 1840
This issue includes the Federal Census Records for Howdyshells that I have found from 1790 to 1840. The reason we are able to cover so much time in this single issue is due to the fact that before 1850 only the heads of the families were listed by name.
With this issue we should all now have the census records from 1790 - 1850 plus several from 1860. I have a few more after 1860, mostly from Hampshire WV that I'll be sharing in the future along with any new information I'm able to gather.
The main reason for starting with Federal Census records is that they provide a good framework to refer to in the coming months as we start dealing with more varied records.
