Warrior

Story of the warrior

The warriors of the lands of Khanduras are well trained in all of the weapons of war. Ranging from crusading paladins to unscrupulous mercenaries, Warriors can be found wherever there is conflict amongst their countrymen. Many of these adventuresome men joined with King Leoric's army and went to battle against the Northern kingdom of Westmarch. As the fires of war burned themselves out, these Warriors returned home to find their kingdom in a shattered disarray.

Dark rumors of the mysterious demise of King Leoric abound and the evil that lurks within his Cathedral has drawn many Warriors to Khanduras seeking fortune and glory. Though they were warned by the people of Tristram, a few of these brave souls have ventured into the chaotic labyrinth beneath the old church- never to be heard from again...

Whether driven by valor, honor, madness or greed, new Warriors arrive in Tristram every day, ready to challenge the dark unknown that awaits them beneath the earth.

The Warrior is the strongest and toughest of the three available Classes, and he excels in the art of close combat. His primary weakness is that his extensive physical training has left little time to develop more than a rudimentary knowledge of magic. The extended periods of time that most Warriors spend away from their homes and civilization requires that they learn to repair their own weapons and armor, although their skill is no match for the talent of a true blacksmith.

Facts about the warrior

The warrior is a character that excels in the art of close combat. With a high armour class and a lot of damage, one hit from him can be deadly. He can utilize heavy armor, axes, clubs and sword that most of the other classes cannot.

The warrior's stats are:

  Start At Maxium ability
Strenght 30 250
Magic 10 50
Dexterity 20 60
Vitality 25 100

Here is some information that i got in "Prima's Secrets of the Games: The Official Strategy Guide: Diablo". It is a very good guide to the game. If you like guides, this one is an excellent one to get. Don't worry, it's not considered cheating because it just gives you some helpful facts that you can even gather for yourselves. The guide just saves you the time by gathering the information for you.

  • The warrior enjoys the fastest attacks with all weapons except the bow.
  • He gains 2 hp (hit points) per level up and per point of vitality .
  • He gets double bonuses for all items "of life" and "of vitality"(but he also gets double the negatives)
  • The warrior has a critical strike component giving him a calculated chance for double damage (half his current level is his chance. ex: a level 10 warrior has a 5% chance for critical strike)
  • His high vitality means he can last longer in a battle.

Some tips to use with the warrior

  • He has a unique power to repair any items.Although he is no blacksmith, his powers can save him a lot of money on repairs. When he repairs something, the durablity of that item decreases. If you are not planning to keep that item for long, you might as well take advantage of this unique ability. You can save a lot of money especially when you are just starting a new character. The chances are that you will find something better within a few levels. Also at the beginning, money is very crucial because you only start with 100 gold and each kill gives you only an average of 7 gp.
  • Magic!!! Magic!!! Magic!!! Many people will overlook magic as important for the warrior, but in my opinion, is what keeps me alive when i use the warrior. Stone curse is a must with the warrior. You'd hate to be chasing a goat man thoughout the level, just to find that he led you to a room filled with others of his kind. Teleport is also an important one. When in doubt just teleport. Obviously town portal and telekinesis is important too. Town portal is obvious, but why telekinesis? Well lets say you lost your items. You can just use telekinesis to get them back. The rest of the spells are not that important but if you want a secondary attack, you can always use magic. I like to use guardian, flame wave, and chain lightning to thin out crowds
  • Resistance is very important to the warrior. He should always max it because when in the hell levels, the enemies are throwing magic like crazy. But i don't suggest a warior to wear the constricting ring unless he has something of the blood (+5% to health) because the warrior's health is quite low.
  • Learn to use the shift button. The shift button makes you stay in one place so u don't run around. You attack from one spot. This is important because if you just click, you may click on an enemy that is running away so you are going to chase him while there are other enemies attacking you. Or you may click the ground instead and thus you will run to that place, wasting precious time.
  • Use your surroundings. Click here for more information
  • I like to equipe my warrior with a sword and shield at the beginning, axe in the middle and back to sword and shield in the end of the game. At the beginning armour is quite important because you have such a low amount of hit points. In the middle you have a lot of hp and the enemies do so little damgae. In the end you have a lot of hit points but the enemies do catastrophic amount of damage.
