My Battletech Junk

I've only been playing Btech for about three years, so I'm hardly a grumbler in this field. Still, I pride myself on my ability to min-max a design, and my restraint in creating what I view as FASA-worthy 'mechs and vehicles. If you like my work, e-mail me with your letters of appreciation. And remember, for every design you use from this site, 5 cents goes to a fund to buy soap for the Clans to use so that they will be less stinky in the future.

Grenadier's guide to Battletech - my thoughts on how to use Inner Sphere technology to its best effect. (Still under construction).

"An informative and comprehensive primer on the tactics of 31st Century warfare" - New Avalon Herald.

Dumb Battletech Tricks - some thoughts on the stranger designs that can be created.

"What where these people thinking?" - New Avalon Herald.

A selection of my designs from the 3025 Era, when men were men and 'mechs were trash:

FSL-1M Fusilier - what happens if you try sticking a Rifleman & a Wolverine together. It's been awarded high praise as the sort of 'mech that FASA would put in a Tech Readout - if they were doing TR3030 or something like that. If you agree/disagree/care, drop me a line! (Yes, I know I'm really begging for e-mail, but nobody has sent me any about this site. I guess I should do some link exchanges, but that requires me to find some folks that actually care as much about content as appearance.)

LN-CR-1 Lancier - another hybrid, although a nastier one. It's a fusion of the Panther and the Wolfhound. Watch out. Never saw production in the pre-clan era, due to Marik's shortage of PPCs. I'm considering rehashing this with a Large Laser instead of the PPC, but I think that might be cheese.

Some Level II designs for the Sphere (Largely Free Worlds - I'm a loony & proud of it!):

BS-2K Bushi - It's a Combine 'mech with a sword and an ER Machine Gun, what else can I say? Also available in the BS-3K version, which trades the ER Machine Gun in on something approaching a real weapon.

LN-CR-2 Lancier - the production version of the LN-CR-1. Not as nasty in its day, due to the stinking Clans turning up and spoiling everything. Still a good 'mech, and perhaps the most decidedly munch thing on the page.

PLDN-1O Paladin - An omnimech for the Knights of the Inner Sphere. More fun than an Albatross, anyway. Might need a rename considering how many "Paladins" there are on-line.

Some proof on how much better the Free Worlds League is than the Clans (a.k.a. "We can build your Omnimechs better than you can!")

Thor-Ma - Well, it's pretty much a Thor, but it uses Inner Sphere technology.

Vulture-Ma - Similar to the above, it's a Vulture, but using Spheroid components. Yes, I know that substituting a Light Gauss for real Gauss is a cheap trick, but the FWL engineers were using Clan tech Cannons as a model, weren't they?

All of these were made using Battlemech Designer 9.71, which I'll either upload here or put a link to someone else's site where you good people can get at it. If people really care I might zip some of the files in .bmi format. Don't count on it, though. And, if you couldn't find anyone more respectable to look after your 'Mechs, yes, you can send me your designs and I'll put 'em up here, giving you at least 50% of the credit. Not, of course, that it would be a lot of effort to set up a crappy page like this for yourself. Note that this is not a place for the stinking Clans and their munchkin 'Mechs. Although, if someone can min-max a design better than me and sends it in, I'll put it up as a tribute to just how cheesy Clan Tech is. Level III Technology is simply out of the question. For one, I don't know what half of it does, and the stuff I do know about, I find worse than Clan Tech.
