The DAP State chairman in his speech calls on all the party members to be united to face the challenges ahead.

He said:  ?We gather here for an important mission - a mission that everyone has a share in it.  We gather here today to look back for what we have done and  or what we have not done for our society; to shares our views on issues that confront us and to find ways and means to overcome the problems and to find solutions to the problems.?

He urges the party members to face new reality and new politics in the new millennium.

?We have to change the tides of ideas.  Our challenge is to show that in our policies, in our commitments and in our opinions we are ready to meet the country?s call for changes and its hopes for national renewals.  Parties that do not change die, and DAP is a living movement and not historical monument.?

On the environment issues, he said how helpless we human being in facing environmental issues, like haze, global warming, etc.

?We are facing another haze havoc.  The forest fire continues to burn, the people continue to face the haze.  Asians are facing another haze enveloping Asian Countries.  We must put a STOP to haze problem.  Such regional issue has to be tackled regionally.  ASIANS must have the principle to stand up against such irresponsible few cronies who burn the forest for plantation uses.?
