Aims& Objective The arts mostly did not enjoy systematic and serious patronage for a long time after independence 1947 as country was going through crises in various fields which needed immediate attention.
It was decided under the President’s order early in March 1972, to setup up Pakistan National Council of the Arts.
On 3rd August, 1973, the National Assembly of Pakistan passed the PNCA Act 1973 and gave this premier art and culture promotional body a statutory status with following aims and objectives:-
- To encourage creative individual talent.
- To develop art and culture institution.
- To foster a clear sense of purpose for the attainment of national identity and cohesion based on Islamic values and traditions.
- To implement the cultural pacts under the advice of the Federal Government.
- To coordinate and supervise cultural bodies throughout Pakistan.
- To provide services as an expert and advisory body.
