Reach Ministries International emphasizes a holistic disciplemaking process utilizing indigenous leadership in Asia. Most staff are self-supporting and are dedicated and gifted to lead substantial ministries. Evangelism and disciplemaking occur in the workplace, in public schools and on university campuses where many students will be come tomorrow's Christian professionals, capable of making an impact on every aspect of community life. Reach sponsors economic projects to help the poor by creating jobs and small business opportunities in their communities. Our overall efforts are designed to equip people to become complete in Christ spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically, and economically. RMI Statement of Faith RMI DOCTRINAL STATEMENTTop of page Reach Ministries International assists disciplemaking movements in the Third World that have national leadership. In the ministries we support, we help train the leaders to walk with God, study His Word, pray, memorize Scripture, share their faith, and to train other nationals to do the same. We believe it is a good use
of God's resources to support national ministries for the following reasons:
North Americans cannot accomplish the Great Commission alone! Since 1900, practicing Christians have dropped from 29% of the world's population to 23%. We are losing ground to the enemy. There are only 85,000 Christian workers on the mission field, most of them short-term missionaries. (That compares with I million In the US, which has 6% of the world's population.) Supporting responsible national ministries can change this Imbalance. Financial resources are unevenly distributed around the world . 96% of all Christian finances are spent in the United States on 6% of the world's population. National disciplemaking ministries accomplish miracles with their meager finances and strategic financial support can make them more effective. Several nationals can be supported for the cost of one North American missionary family. Third World nationals have a lower standard of living than the average North American missionary does. A. A low standard of living can reduce the barriers to the gospel in the Third World. For example, it is easier for a Filipino missionary to adapt to the Mexican standard of living than for a North American missionary. B. Support for a North American missionary family is $30,000 to $60,000 a year. A national worker can be supported for $3,000 to $6,000 a year. When Christians minister in their own country, no time is lost learning the language or understanding the culture. National missionaries usually overcome cultural barriers easier than North American missionaries do. For example, the common Spanish heritage allows Filipino missionaries to adjust easily to Mexican culture.
