June     in Fairbanks, Alaska

Summer is here.  The daylight is all night now.  We have midnight sun ball games and foot races.  I can work all night in the garden by the light of the sun!  The chokecherry trees are in full bloom.  The last frost is past (I hope).  Curtis is busy planting the garden and lots of flowers.

The real sign of summer is the tourists.  People walk the sidewalks early in the morning.  Back home where they come from it's hours later.  Who wants to waste a minute of this daylight?

The real pest of summer is the mosquito.  Some Alaskans consider the mosquito the state bird.  If I leave the garage door open very long, here they come. The high temperataure yesterday was 75 degrees.  That's a real heat wave!
