h: "pB, L, irregularly round, surrounds a star 12th mag, touches two 11th mag and has a fainter just at the edge."; "pB, L, irreg round; involves four stars, and is very gradually brighter about the chief of them."

Hartung writes: "This curious object is a round diffuse fairly bright nebulous haze about 2' across in which are three faint stars with what appears to be a nucleus in the following part. It is faintly visible with 15cm."

Sanford says the galaxy has "an irregular round shape and there are three or four faint foreground stars which are seen against the galaxy."

Steve Gottlieb, 17.5-inch: “moderately bright, moderately large, 2' diameter, irregularly round, brighter core. Unusual appearance as four stars are close including a mag 11 star at the S edge, two mag 13 stars at the E and W edges and a mag 13.5 star at the N edge. Fairly bright galaxy for low elevation viewing.”

Steve Coe, using a 13” f/5.6, notes: “Pretty bright, pretty large, bright middle, elongated 1.5 X 1 in PA 165. This galaxy has a bizarre shape and there are three stars involved at 150X. One star is 11th mag and two others are about 13th mag.”
