NGC 986 MCG-07-06-015 RA 02:33:35 Dec -39°02.9' Galaxy |
h: "pB, L, psbM, 3' long, 2' broad;
either Binuclear or more extended on the N.f. side than on the opposite. No
other neb. near it." On a second occassion he called it "B, L, pmE,
vsmbM; 100 arcseconds long, 60 arcseconds broad; Unequally bright and
exhibiting an approach to the Binuclear form." Herschel tentatively
identifies it as Dunlop 519. This object was observed by James Dunlop from
Paramatta, New South Wales, with a 9-inch f/12 telescope. He described it as "a
faint nebula, of an irregular round figure, about 30 arcseconds diameter, north
of a bright small star."
