IC 1297 ESO337-PN020, PK358-21.01 RA 19:17:21 Dec -39°08.5' Planetary
nebula |
This planetary neblula in Corona Australis was
discovered spectroscopically by Pickering, who wrote: "Stellar (gaseous
spectrum)."
Hartung notes: In a fine starry field is
this conspicuous pale blue planetary nebula about 10arcsec across, of even light
. . the disk is fairly well defined with no visible central star, and 15cm shows
it plainly.
Sanford calls it a "2 arcsecond diameter
blue point of 11th magnitude."
Steve Coe, using a 13 f/5.6, notes: Pretty
bright, small, little elongated 1.2 X 1 in PA 0, central star occaisonally held
steady at 270X. I found this object at 135X, it was about 3 times the size of
the Airy disk on a good night which I rated 6/10 for seeing and 7/10 for
transparency. |
