Bailey, examining a Bruce plate (Harvard Annals, Vol 72, No 2), describes it as "pretty bright, stellar nucleus, 0.7' x 0.3' at 165 deg; spiral?"

The RNGC (Sulentic and Tifft 1973) notes that this is a unverified southern object.
