Mission
The mission of this site is to provide an educational site showing what a Clan is, how a Chief is established of that Clan and to provide information to assist interested people. We hope that by providing such information that it will make attending Scottish Highland Games and Gathering more interesting.

There is an ever  growing interest among people to search their roots, to allow the pride that so many are expierencing due to their Scottish heritage to be brought out.

There is more than 250 Scottish events in North America, and each year the attendance grows. The thrill of hearing the pipes, of watching the Highland dancers, the pageantry and the colors of the tartans. To watch the sheep dog trails, as the handlers show how these marvelous animals 'round up the sheep' and  all by whistle signals from the handler.

To walk down Clan tent row, and spotting your name at one of the Clan tents, we will explain how to decide what Clan you are or what Clan you could be apart of. We will explain in detail, what a SEPT is and the pit falls one can find themselves in by not checking carefully.

Learn how to do genealogy and get pointed in the correct direction that can save you hours of reading. The joy of finding a long lost family line or getting back even one generation from where you started, gives one such a sense of accomplishment.

We will explain some information on the complex subject of Heraldry and tell you how to have your own personal Arms Granted or, your own family tartan, design it, and have it woven.

We will cover the history of Scotland in an easy to understand way, the King of Scots of Ancient times, who really were the Highland Clans and how did they start.
For anyone who wishes to get information of Scotland and be able to speak about it without having to take a course or learn it cause somebody said this or that. Most times these people who mean well, don't always have the information first hand but heard somebody say so, and they pass it on and by the time it is repeated five or six times, it is magnified and embellished greatly.

I as the Chief of the Clann MacTamhais
Gaelic for MacTavish and Thom(p)son Worldwide, can speak only for my Clan when it comes to its history, I will not attempt to teach anything about the workings of other Clans, that of course is the other Clan Chiefs domain. There are at last count, 138 Chiefs of Clans and Families and four clans who have an appointed Commander.

We will be pleased to provide information on how to contact your Chief, what Clan you no doubt are affiliated with or where to find such information.

I as a Chief of a Highland Clan believe that it is my obligation to not only provide my Clan members with the rich and proud heritage but to also assist in anyway all people of Scottish heritage. To feel that in my own way I can help others who perhaps as yet have not experienced the thrill and the pride one feels as the attend a Scottish Games or a Scottish Gathering. To hear the pipes, or to watch the full band as they march to the pipes and drums. To see the skjirl of the kilt, the colors of the tartans, the highland dancers, and yes, the sheep dogs  rounding up the sheep display and all by the commands of the owner whistle.

If you have never attended, you have a treat in store, if you have attended, hopefully  the information here can teach you  to enjoy even more. Taking part of the Scottish events and sharing the rich Scottish culture with fellow Scots that you will be exposed to is a wonderful experience.

'Like all good things, unfortunately there is always a few who you may run into that will leave a rather nasty taste in one mouth. These types are a very small minority, but they do leave unfortunate memories. This forum as stated above is dedicated to
but we must address this issue and so, one section of this forum titled 'Myths, Deception and Confusion' will be dedicated to share the experience that this Clan and it's supporting members have had to put up with. This will be in a temporary folder titled, 'TROLLS AND WORSE'
