Cameron's Epic Three-hour love story/Disaster movie broke all box office records, and earned over $1.2 billion worldwide. But he was so sure that it would be a flop that he asked for only a mere $600,000 scriptwriters fee (although he also produced, directed, edited, and was head of photography). When the film did so well, the studio paid him another $6 million as a token of gratitude
