Blackadder

Turnips

Dot turnips liberally around the rooms for any Baldricks that may appear.

Dismembered head

Off with his head!Make papier-mache heads, as for Aliens in X-Files theme. Do not divide into two. Instead paint green, add a face and then stick a wig/black wool on the top for hair. Cut a hole at the bottom and balance on something (hoover nozzle works well).

General Melchett's moustache

Cut out a huge bit of card in a moustache shape. Attach bits of old cut up cassette tape onto it using flour and water paste.

Pictures

A picture of Elizabeth I can be done using poster paints or if you're not artistic, photocopy (by enlarging) a portrait and colour in.

Auditions for Arnold the Bat in Sheridan's new play poster (Blackadder The Third)

In Blackadder Goes Forth, they are sent on a mission to sketch the German fortifications. Blackadder assures the General that they looked exactly like that "only with rather more armament factories and slightly less elephants"

COSTUMES

The Shadow, Bob (Series II), Lady Whiteadder and Nurse Fleischer-Braun

(Above) The Shadow, Bob (Series II), Lady Whiteadder and Nurse Fleischer-Braun have some rollicking fun!

Lord FlashHeart/Blackadder/Elizabethan

White shirt, customised shorts and waistcoat, tights and shoes. I tried to do a ruff with a paper doilie but it's very difficult and doesn't fit too well.

Customised shorts/waistcoat

  • Sew wide ribbon at the top and bottom of your shorts, Tie bows of another ribbon around them at intervals.
  • Edge the waistcoat in ribbon or rich-looking braid.
  • Cloak: I used a skirt and attached ribbon to it with safety pins so it could hang off one shoulder.

Lord/Lady Whiteadder

  • Cut a hole for your head in an old hessian type curtain.
  • trim the brim off a white pith helmet (available from fancy dress shops)
  • Cut out a large cross from cardboard
  • Slot cross into helmet at the top by making a slit

Queenie

No need for the full ensemble. A tiara and regal presence will do (and a ginger curly wig if you feel like it!)

The Duke of Wellington

Wear wellington boots and shout Bah! alot

Blackadder Goes Forth: World War I

Nurse Fletcher-Brown, or should I say Nurse Fleischer-Braun

A nurse's head-dress is enough, or you could go the whole hog with apron and caring bedside manner.
