COSTUMES List

It's always best to tell people that fancy dress is optional, as it reassures any wanderers who are coming on after a meal out or whatever that they're not going to look totally out of place. Costumes needn't be expensive or full-blown. One of my mates was most fetching as a Vodka Martini at our Bond party, with a splash of eau de martini and an olive necklace and earrings! It just needs the right amount of wit and humour to carry it off. Indulge in some lateral thinking as well!

Feel free to adapt costumes. There's a great quote from Roseanne when Dan squirts furniture polish into the air when they're tidying the house: "Remember, we're only looking for the illusion of clean". My Xena outfit cheated quite alot - it was halter neck as that's easier to sew, and the skirt was made out of sheepskin not leather as it was cheaper. Only a real bore is going to nitpick though (especially if you're carrying a chakram and looking menacing...!)
