Love Earth's Animals Foundation is pleased to announce that we have started receiving the necessary donations of money and supplies that will enable us to open our new facility. Each donation moves us toward our goal of opening our permanent propagation facility next year, but we still have a long way to go! Remember that each membership purchase helps, too.

The Donation Campaign is a fund-raiser intended to allow us to purchase, or receive by donation, a large tract of land and the necessary materials and supplies to create our permanent breeding and rehabilitation facilities-- otherwise known as L.E.A.F.Zoo. This will feature the Exotic Animal House, which will be a zoo-like setting where the public will be invited to see our various animal species. There will also be the L.E.A.F.Zoo gift shop, a baby animal nursery, a petting zoo, nature trails, and a veterinary area, in addition to the animal breeding and rehabilitation habitats. Large naturalized habitats, rehabilitation habitats, and flight cages will be built as needed for the animal species we acquire to propagate and rehabilitate. The first habitats built will be to house the African Wild Cats we are currently breeding, a permanent habitat for Jack, our gray wolf, and the mate we will obtain for him, and for the Siberian tiger cub pair that we intend to raise next spring. Habitats will also be built for the animals on our waiting list: endangered African Sand Cats, endangered clouded leopards, endangered and threatened wolves and perigrine falcons -- all animals we will be obtaining immediately after moving into our new facility, as soon as the appropriate permits and licenses are issued for our new location.
Some of the better points of this property versus others available are:
  • the buildings available for conversion to breeding quarters for raptors and domestic endangered breeds,
  • the commercial kitchen which is large enough to accomodate feeding of many animal species,
  • the separate house available for the Site Director's residence,
  • the added apartment and bunk house that can be used to house the zoology major veterinary students and volunteers, and our Wild Retreat guests,
  • the natural spring which will be used to give running water to the animals,
  • and the fact that this property has the potential for immediate income since it is currently being used as a summer day camp, wilderness camp and weekend retreat center. Most of the other land tracts do not have any improvements whatsoever and no potential for immediate income.

Following is a description of the property we have found most ideal so far. There are other land tracts available which we are considering for our facility, but the buildings, location, and 195 acres of this property place it first on our list. All the properties we have considered are at least $250,000 (US) because we require at least 100 acres on which to build our propagation habitats to ensure that all our intended species will have adequate room. We have two U.S. zoos, two U.S. organizations, and three international zoos waiting for L.E.A.F. to move to its facility. Time is of the essence!
