Our Millennium Totara
History
Rotokawa School is a contributing Primary School with ten teaching spaces
and a roll potential of approximately 250 children. Space exists for more
classrooms should they be needed.
Rotokawa School is over 100 years old, it's early history dating back to
the schools established around the lakes during the latter part of the
19th century. The present site of the school has
been used since 1926. The main block was built in1937 and added to in 1945.
A further two additions were built in 1953 and 1963. A remodel of the main
block, completed in January, 1994, and formally opened on March 4, 1994,
refurbished the library, three classrooms and the Administration area.
Three new rooms arrived for the start of the 1997 year. In 1999 the
1960's classroom block was remodelled including a new roof, new toilets,
and construction of two offices / storage /withdrawal spaces.
Activities
What makes our school so special and cool are the children.
Also we enjoy the winter sports like hockey, netball and soccer and swimming.
In fact we are extremely fortunate to have a thermal swimming pool.
Also we do the most fun activities such as when we made our own Black Magics.
In fact even our teachers were involved in the learning process. ( Mr. Ts
one sank even when the keel was constructed from a plastic credit card)
