Barcelona, Spain
Another massive city, but
first you have to check out of the ship. If you take one of the tours offered, you can get
off of the ship around 10:00 or 11:00, but if you opt to just take the bus to the hotel,
you're looking at noon or better. Rooms are not supposed to be ready till 2:00pm or so any
way. I must add that Renaissance put a bottle of wine in our stateroom, with an apologize
for the trouble at the Sheraton in Lisbon. It was a nice gesture I guess for someone who
drinks, but didn't do anything for those of us who don't. Now are you ready for this, our
hotel in Barcelona, the Melina was remodeling some of there rooms and again it was loud
and they work late. It seems that everywhere we went on the Iberian Peninsula had some
sort of construction/reconstruction. Also it appears that as we tend to like the suburb's,
over there, everyone seems to prefer the center of the city. There are towering apartment
buildings with narrow little streets in between.

We were tired from
staying up late our last nite on the ship and then having to get up and out of your
stateroom before 9:00am, so we kind of lazed out in the room that first day, besides it
was raining, they also had some snow flurries that day. They say the first they've had in
seven years. There is a book on the highlights in the area, in the room. Check it out,
it'll save time on deciding what you want to do and see. The next day the weather was nice
and we got out and explored some of the cafes and shops in the area surrounding our hotel
and then early to bed. We were up at 3:30am and checked out of the hotel by 5:00am.
