The Ship
Transfer to the ship was ok and the
ship though small was nice. Don't worry about bringing real fancy clothes, casual dress is
ok everywhere onboard. Hit the casino as soon as they open it up. The machines are real
loose then. Video poker had 2 or 3 royal flushes and the slot paid out pretty good. They
tighten them up after that first night and you end up
putting
them back in if you're not careful, but a good time was had by all. There was also a
number of ship board activities like pictionary, trivial pursuit, ping pong and such. You
earned wooden nickels for these activities, that you could trade in at the end of the
cruise for different things like key chains, fanny packs and such. Heated swimming pool
and Jacuzzi, though the weather was a bit chilly, there were some brave souls.
The food was pretty good at all the
eating places, the only complaint is that the milk in the big dispenser is powdered, but
if you ask, they have real milk in a little
box that they keep hidden.
They have tours in all the different
ports, just remember all your credit cards!! Watch out for pick pockets, I heard at least
one tale of someone getting clipped. Seems a local, accidentally spilled his drink on this
guy and then help to clean him up & out.
There is an Internet cafe, or should I
say room on the ship. T1 connections via satellite. The cost is $1.00 per minute and that
starts as soon as you log on to the computer. I uploaded two pictures and sent them as an
attachment on AOL and it cost me $15.00, needless to say I wasn't on the computer any
more. As far as pictures go, the only way to do it, is if you have a laptop with you and
transfer them over to a 3 1/2 floppy, then take the floppy to the computer room and they
will scan it for viruses and then let you on their system with it.
There's a sports bar on 10 forward, with live music and dancing at night, which I'm sorry
to say I didn't have a chance to check out, sorry your on your own there. We had an
outside cabin on deck 4 (E) and I was quite happy. It was very large and with a queen size
bed that seemed like a king size, a big 4'x4' window. A nice TV, that had channels that
told you of the upcoming tours in the ports of call and 4 movie channels that showed a
different movie over and over and a different set of movies everyday, so you could always
take a break and catch a movie.
All and all I'd give the ship a good
solid "B" There could have been a better photography dept. and a little bigger
budget on the lounge acts.
