The city of Gold Coast is the second largest city of Queensland, Australia, after Brisbane, the state capital. In fact it's the country's sixth largest city and second biggest local authority. Gold Coast developed from the merging of a number of coastal towns into a metropolis.

With tourism being the chief economic activity, Gold Coast has earned itself the reputation of
Australia's premier tourist resort. It has more theme parks than any other aussie city such as Dreamworld, Warner Bros. Movie World, Wet'n'Wild and Sea World. Dreamworld an Movie World offers rides like roller coasters and Batman: The Ride. Sea World
is a popular place to view dolphins, seals and whales do tricks but it also offers rides. They are all water based, however. Wet'n'Wild is a water themepark that features giants slides and more.

Gold Coast also became the venue for international events such as the Gold Coast Marathon and the Indy Car Grand Prix. One of the international race tracks the city has is at Surfers' Paradise.
