Why, Oh why did it seem like I had more energy
Ten years ago? And more time?
There aren't enough hours in the day.
For those of you cursing my name for not having gotten back to you
for one thing or another, please be patient while I get things in order!
I've not forgotten whatever it is I was meant to do!

The Harper's Window is named for my longest running
character, Hannova. Her dragon is blue
Samirith and two flitters Tarry (brown) and Sascha (gold) look to her for food and a place to perch. She is also the Weyrharper for SunCliff
Weyr. My alter ego has been online since 1985 in the days when America Online was a little Commodore64 refuge called Q-Link. |
The world of Pern is the creation of Anne
McCaffrey, who has been writing these wonderful books for more than
thirty years. I read Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern and have been hopelessly
hooked ever since. If you havent read them - go get 'em. They've
been around, you can even borrow them from the library.
The images seen through my window are of characters
based on her Pern novels, created in the online world of Pern fanclub roleplaying.
She graciously permits The Harper's Window to exist.
Without this, or the incredible world of her imagination, this site would not be possible.

For those who have asked, the basic FAQ:
-
This is my hobby (one of them) and not for profit.
-
Requests for artwork are accepted at my discretion as time permits.
-
There is no filter that produces the stained-glass effect seen on this
site. It must be done by hand. Yes, that often takes quite some time.
-
The materials at work here are varied, and perhaps some time in the future I'll break down which items were produced in what way. For now however,
a list:
-
Deluxe Paint 2 Enhanced (Electronic Arts)
-
Adobe PhotoShop 3,4 & 5 (Adobe)
-
Corel PhotoPaint 7 (Corel Graphics)
-
EyeCandy 3 (Alien Skin Software)
-
Kai's Power Tools 3 & 5 (MetaCreations)
-
Paint Shop Pro 5 (I'm trying it out for a bit)
-
Bryce 3D (MetaCreations)
-
Logitech ScanMan - half page, 256 colors, 400dpi (it sucks, but it works)
-
Pencils of all grades, papers of all types, Micron Pigma ink pens
-
The pages themselves were coded using whatever I had on hand be it notepad.exe, Netscape Composer, or those little web-window thingies that let you fiddle with code on Fortune Cities or GeoCrappy
