All film lesson sheets will draw from 5 types of questions
1. Lesson on Muybridge using handout sheet and Edision's First Film (claris version)
also: Muybridge images to be enlarged and cut up (in clarisworks)
also: Detailed essay on Edison
also: Edison's first film (?) = an "actuality" on the Eiffel Tower.
2. Lesson on Eisenstein and Montage, including Handout.
3. Showing of Chaplin`s "Modern Times" with questions and discussion.
4. West Side Story lesson plan and introduction to material and question sheet for which contextual vocabulary will be researched and answers to questions will be read orally as mini_speeches, then debated.
5. Introducing the Western as a Genre by going over setting, character, events and themes of typical westerns (student is an expert), then reading through the provided handouts on Sergio Leone and Spagetti Westerns and on the film The Good The Bad and The Ugly (click here). Gun fight scene shown at end of class. Movie shown in its entirety next day
6. Film Reviews - a unit where students prepare detailed film reviews on the film of their choice, and use the internet to research information on the directors, cinematographers, writers, etc. (click_here)
