 Clutch

Adding a Clutch

The clutch pot would be wired as follows: wire the center lug to pin #15(+5v output from computer) and the left (opp. of gas) to pin #13(0-5v input from joystick "B" Y axis). If the wiring is different, then you need to determine which axis is not being used. Using my diagram as an example; the X and Y axis of joystick "A" is used, and only the X axis of Joystick "B" is used. Therefore, the Y axis of joystick "B" is left and it is the one you'd use for the clutch. Okay, assuming that you've determined which axis is available, it's simply a matter of consulting the pin assignment chart. Each pot must have a +5v output pin and a 0-5v input pin.

Pin Chart--Dual Axis

Pin #1 - (+5 volts DC output from computer) Steering, center lug.

Pin #2 - (neg. input from Joystick "A" Button 1) to the NO (normally open) terminal of shifter switch #1

Pin #3 - (0-5 volts input from Joystick "A" X Axis) Steering, left lug.

Pin #4 - (negative ground output from computer) to the COMMON terminals of shifter switches #1 and #2

Pin #5 - (negative ground output from computer) no connection

Pin #6 - (0-5 volts input from Joystick "A" Y Axis) Brake, right lug.

Pin #7 - (neg. input from Joystick "A" button 2) to the NO (normally open) terminal of shifter switch #2

Pin #8 - (+5 volts DC output from computer)

Pin #9 - (+5 volts DC output from computer) Gas & Brake, center lugs.

Pin #10 - (neg. input from Joystick "B" Button 3) (Optional) to one terminal of switch #3

Pin #11 - (0-5 volts input from Joystick "B" X Axis) Gas, right lug.

Pin #12 - (negative ground output from computer) (Optional) to common terminals of switches #3 & 4

Pin #13 - (0-5 volts input from Joystick "B" Y Axis) (Clutch, left lug.)

Pin #14 - (neg. input from Joystick "B"Button 4) to one terminal of switch #4

Pin #15 - (+5 volts DC output from computer) (Clutch, center lug.)
