Movies - The filmi chakkar !

My favourite Actress - Ash Ya, we all love movies. They enrich our life, allow us the freedom to live out our fantasies, make impossible things look possible and ultimately shape our future by influencing the way we think. For example, the torrent of science fiction movies has convinced us that extra terrestrial life is a definite possibility (though common sense also leads us to the same conclusion). Today's generation is well accustomed to the idea of life on other worlds and has been prepared (in a sense) for the inevitable coming of the so-called superior beings. Personally I like to think that all things being relative, superiority and inferiority depend on the point of view - there are no standard frames of references, every culture is unique in its own way. I know this isn't original, but it is true nevertheless. Just because the western culture has achieved tremendous technological advancement, doesn't imply that they are superior in every sense. Well, I do tend to drift from the topic of discussion. Movies have also 'mis-shaped' our thinking process in certain areas, for example the traditional depiction of Dracula or specifically the vampires. It amuses me no end to see the typical and almost comical depiction of vampires by the mainstream Hollywood cinema, or for that matter of the extra terrestrial beings. Why is ET always a 'Green Man from Mars?' or something horrible? Another fact, which shows the limited thinking of moviemakers, is that a good alien is always 'humanoid'. This does convey a kind of prejudice (in favour of human species)
My Favourite Indian actor - Aamir Khan
