The implements of warfare include the standard arms depot as well as petrol bombs, mines, spilled oil and electric weapons. There are also special mini - games that are made available upon the completion of a  level. The missions unfold much as they did in the original, although there are aspects of the gameplay  that realy heavily on the respect you earn from gang members. In  essence, Speed travels between  the city's three zones by accumulating  points and cash. Missions are one  way of doing this, though gangs  who do not respect you will attempt to  murder you, meaning gainful  employment is definitely out of the  question. There is considerable    variance in the action, and says his favorite sequence involves an  exploding toilet and an articulated    lorry that can be disconnected at just the right moment. It uses a lot of the funniest features, such as the new  cranes and weapons, as well as the ability to blow up buildings.

Picture the scene: a name -less game company's secret underground development bunker. The finest game developers in the world are gathered around, trying to come up with a new angel on racing   games. Then suddenly one wild - eyed leaps  up  and yells: Radio controlled cars.

You'll get to race 28 cars, each with noticeably different handling and performance, and they will be unlocked as you win races. Mario kart style power ups litter the tracks, providing a variety of humorous weapons to distract your opponents, homing fireworks, water bombs and battery boosts are a few of them.

Multi-player options include a  battle mode in dedicated deathmatch arenas, and races for up to 12 players. The single racer has plenty of options too, with a full championship on offer as well as quick races and time trials. Best of all, though, is a full track editor for creating your own bizarre designs.

Re-Volt's slick presentation and smooth graphics, combined with an arcade-style simplicity, are sure to make it on of the year's most accessible driving games.
