NATIONWIDE CONFERENCE

SORRY ABOUT THE STUPID FORTUNECITY ICONS THAT APPEAR AT TIMES IN THE CLUB BADGES - NO IDEA WHY FORTUNECITY DO THIS - JUST REFRESH THE PAGE.

The Nationwide Conference is the cream of the English non-league scene, the champions of the Conference move up into the Football League 3rd Division - they must have a ground grading good enough for the Football League though.

At the present time the Conference is dominated by a select few teams, this season those teams been Rushden & Diamonds and Yeovil Town, teams finishing last in the Football League 3rd Division move down into the Conference and usually struggle for the first few seasons to find their feet in the League, teams such as Doncaster Rovers who nearly dropped straight to the Unibond League in their first season, other ex-league teams in the Conference are Scarborough, Hereford and Chester City.

Teams going up from the Conference, on the other hand, usually do well in the Football League, examples of these are Wycombe Wanderers (2001 FA Cup Semi-Finalists), Barnet and Macclesfield Town.
