Christmas Theme Ideas
Here is the first of some units I am putting together. Some of the ideas contained on these pages are also available through the craft pages. The ideas are also applicable to many other themes. Feel free to send your ideas, comments and contributions to me at [email protected]
Craft Activities
Candles - We used beeswax sheets to make these candles. No mess, no melted wax, just lots of fun. These candles are great gifts anytime of the year.
Paper Chains - We used some recycled materials to make some really attractive paper chains.
Ornaments - Geometeric shapes were used as bases for these ornaments. We used recycled Christmas cards to decorate the ornaments.
Walk Through Christmas Tree Our Christmas tree was far from traditional this year, however it provided a wonderful sensory experience for our students. Similar environments could be created for different themes.
Paper Square Tree This tree was made as part of a Mathematics lesson. The end result is an attractive wall decoration.
Customs and Stories
The Legend of the Christmas Spider is a story from Germany. I was given this story by some friends who had been given it in turn by a friend. I copied it exactly from the page I was given, however there was no author mentioned. I have heard that it is a traditional tale. If you have any information of the origin of this story, I would be pleased to add it to the page.
