Publicity

ATTENTION: My website has moved to a new server at the address of http://www.novusmusic.org. These FortuneCity pages will remain in place, but will no longer be updated. If you came across these pages on a search engine, please click through to the new site. Thank you.
Just a thought... if you're going to accept my tracking advice as valid, shouldn't you at least make sure that I know what I'm doing? ;) Here, check out my three best tunes, and then you can decide if I have anything worth saying.

Okay, what's the #1 thing that all trackers want? Well, besides fame, fortune, and a multi-million-dollar recording contract, I mean. ;) That's right: they want their songs to be HEARD! But unfortunately, many people don't know how to get the maximum attention for their songs. This page should help, but first, please read the next paragraph.

Ever since the MOD scene moved to the Internet, the scene has exploded. Whereas it used to be that there were only a handful of skilled people cranking out excellent tunes and that to be discovered all you had to do was post a good song to Hornet, things have changed. Now, every 5-year-old with a computer can track and put their songs up on the Internet, and that's what seems to be happening, because quite honestly, there are a lot of absolutely TERRIBLE songs up on the Internet now. While it used to be fun to try out random songs on the Internet, it's just not worth it any more, because 90% of the songs out there now are complete wastes of bandwidth. So, if you are relatively new to tracking, or if you get the feeling that people only say they like your songs to be polite, please, please, PLEASE do not waste webspace uploading your music to the Internet. It's hard enough to find the good stuff without you making it harder. Instead, send your song to friends in the scene and ask for their advice, and read through the DOs & DON'Ts section of this website, as well as the tutorials listed in my Links page. Improve your tracking skills, and get to the point where you can write a decent tune that doesn't send people running for the exits. THEN you should feel free to use this section of my site to publicize your tunes.

Okay, stepping down from my soapbox... ;)

Tracker Music Archives

New Releases - (Part of MODPlug Central)
This site combs the archives to bring you each day's new songs, and is a good place to post your own songs or get new songs from other people.

The MOD Archive
An absolutely huge tracker archive, with songs listed in alphabetical order and by tracker, and a new rating system that is just starting up. And yes, it is finally being regularly updated again. :)

Trax In Space
A well-designed and HUGE archive of songs, arranged in numerous ways and easily searchable.

S3M.COM
Don't let the name fool you... this archive lets you set up a personal account for publicizing ALL of your tracked songs, not just S3Ms. ;)

Free Web Space

If you know HTML, or if you can even use Netscape's built-in page editor, then you can post your songs up on the Web and promote them with your very own Web page! There are plenty of places where you can store your pages for free, but I only know of a few specific ones, so here they are.

Please note: In the past the information about these servers has had a way of becoming out-of-date VERY quickly, especially if one of these sites begins a web space war by upping its free space. So, I will provide the links, but I'll leave it to you to research exactly what they offer.
