Just a thought... if you're going to accept my tracking advice as valid,
shouldn't you at least make sure that I know what I'm doing? ;) Here, check out my three
best tunes, and then you can decide if I have anything worth saying. |
These are the sites which are absolutely essential for trackers to know about.
For a more complete (and less useful) list, check out the Links page.
Static Line
Coplan has put together a tracking newsletter that is worthy of filling TraxWeekly's sizable shoes, and it's available both online and via e-mail on a monthly basis.
United Trackers
UT is an organization designed to bring the trackers of the MOD scene together in one place! They have a message board, a newsletter, the Rising Stars of the Scene page and the Compo Index (both of which used to be part of my page!), numerous articles on improving your tracking, and a searchable index of members that you can use to search for, say, composers of your favorite style of music, or from a certain place. Nice concept, and I'm a proud member!
MODPlug Central
Help for new trackers, new MOD releases, MOD scene news, message boards, utilities, programs, links, The MOD Plug-In which allows you to play MODs directly over the Internet, and the MODPlug Player. And that's not even everything that's over there either!
Zola's Page
This is the home of both the excellent tutorial Impulse Tracker for the Complete Idiot and the Grrls in Tracking Webring.
No-Error: Tracking Scene News
A site dedicated to doing nothing but being the CNN of the tracking scene.
Scene.org
A fairly extensive archive of tracker music from well-respected trackers going back to the
1980s.
Nectarine
Not only is this a fairly good archive, but it's also the home of a request-driven online
tracker radio station. Just sign up for a new account, and you can log in and request songs right
from their archive, thus subjecting the other listeners to your taste in trackage.
The Tracker's Handbook - (Part of MODPlug Central)
Cools of Hertz has put together this comprehensive guide to tracking, and it includes some good tips that will make your songs better, including a few tips that I submitted.
Maz's Sound Tools
The place to get pretty much any program or utility you'll ever need for writing MODs, not to mention a nice link section and a large collection of GREAT samples.
New Releases - (Part of MODPlug Central)
This site combs the archives to bring you each day's new songs, and is a good place to post your own songs or get new songs from other people.
The MOD Archive
An absolutely huge tracker archive, with songs listed in alphabetical order and by tracker, and a new rating system that is just starting up. And yes, it is finally being regularly updated again. :)
Trax In Space
A well-designed and HUGE archive of songs, arranged in numerous ways and easily searchable.
S3M.COM
Don't let the name fool you... this archive lets you set up a personal account for publicizing
ALL of your tracked songs, not just S3Ms. ;)
