Czech Corner
(Český roh)

Milena Jesenská (1896-1944)    Franz Kafka's great love, she was also a fascinating person in her own right.  Yes, this is also listed on the front page of my site, but it also belongs here.

Božena Němcová (1820-1862)    This female Czech writer was a big influence on Kafka's The Castle.  If you don't believe me, check out the very interesting comparisons between her major work, Babička (Granny), and The Castle.  Max Brod himself wrote an essay comparing the two works, so see if you don't agree.

Czech Pronunciation Table    A little table so that you can actually understand what those strange letters with the things on top mean.  Please keep in mind that my knowledge of Czech is sketchy, to say the least!

Links to Some Czech Sites

WebSite Prague    This site is nice, but needs to be updated more often.

Czech Republic Homepage    The official page of the Czech Republic.

Czech Info Center    This site contains a  lot of info about the Czech Republic, including a Basic Czech table.

Czech-English Online Dictionary    There's even a cute little penguin on the front page!

Little Czech Primer in Pictures  A very cute site—I just had to include it.
