Surrounded here in a busy world ... so alone in the crush of the crowd
Is there no one left who can really hear from the heart within beating loud
Whatever happened to innocense ... is there not a drop to be found
Or have all good souls given up to those full of hate and fear all around

Let me stay her close beside you for I know you understand
Tonight I need the quiet peace that can only come from a friend
Let your peaceful calm surround me; with your hand in mine I can bend
You refresh my soul and with you i know there's no reason to pretend
For tonight I need to feel the touch of the loveing heart of a friend
Yes, there is no touch that soothes so much like the loving heart of a friend

People come and people go; they pass through our lives every day
With hearts of stone chilling to the bone and hardly a word to say
And yet at the end of all hoping; just about to throw in the towel
You stepped into this shadowed world, touched my life with your loving smile
