Reports

August 1995

13th Crystal Palace A 3-4 New season starts without the now departed Taggart. Seem to have carbon copy in loaned Viveash who got one. Davis and Liddell other scorers. Got off to a bad start with dubious off side ruling gifts Ray Houghton the first goal for Palace. 19th Oldham Athletic H 2-1 Redfearn penalty and Payton the other scorer. 26th Watford A 3-2 Davis and Rammell the scorers as Barnsley come back from being 2-0 down to see a late goal goal take the point away from us as we pressed for the winner. Good point to the evening though is that the Burgers at Watford are Brilliant. I had two. 29th Tranmere Rovers H 2-1 Davis and Payton scorers. Kane last game in the loan period. Top of Page

September

2nd Brimingham City H 0-5 Back to reality after three wins in a row. 0-0 until Watson is sent off. Butler's first job is to pull the ball out of the back of the net. Viveash substituted and so makes his last appeareance from his loan period. 9th Millwall A 1-0 Redfearn gets the winner as we just hang on. 12 Huddersfield Town A 0-2 . Local derby loss. 17th Sheffield United H 2-2 Flemming returns to the first team, then gets injured on live TV. Davis and Payton scorers again. 19th Huddersfield Town A 0-2 CC Cup 2nd 1 Archdeacon hits post, as the new bogey ground strikes again. Difficult getting away from the ground. 23rd Derby County H 2-0 On loan Yan Molby makes his debut, sets up Liddell double to win it. 30th Charlton Athletic A 1-1 As they all watched Molby, Redfearn steps up and slots a beut free kick equaliser. October

3rd Huddersfield Town H 4-0 CC Cup 2nd 2 Payton Hat-Trick secures passage to the next round. Rammell gets the other. 7th Leicester City H 2-2 Payton scores, and Brilliant Bullock goal gives us a point in a classic encounter. It's Bullocks first for the club. At last. 14th Norwich City A 1-3 Eaden scores. 21st Port Vale H 1-1 Archdeacon scores. Molby's last game on loan. 24 Arsenal H 0-3 CC Cup 3rd (Out) Big boys come for a near sell-out crowd. Didn't really get a look in. Liddell missed a penalty and Moses made one of the most outstanding clearances i've ever witnessed. 28th Sunderland A 1-2 Liddell scores. Top of Page

November

4th Wolverhampton Wanderers H 1-0 Redfearn scorer. De Zeeuw makes his debut. 11th Grimsby Town A 1-3 Davis scores. De Zeeuw also scores a bullet header, unfortunately it was in his own net. 18th Reading A 0-0 21st Portsmouth H 0-0 2nd Blank in a row. 25th Luton Town H 1-0 Victory at last. Redfearn Scores. December

2nd Leicester City A 2-2 Payton double in another good game against the city. 9 Derby County A 1-4 Rammell off the bench to score. 16th Charlton Athletic H 1-2 Payton scores and my mate nearly gets chucked out because he's a Charlton fan in the East Stand. Any possibility of a neutral area in grounds. 22nd Ipswich Town A 2-2 De Zeeuw gets his first for the club. (In the right end.) And Liddell the other scorer. 26th Stoke City H 3-1 Liddell, Rammell and Redfearn scorers. Top of Page

January 1996

1st Southend United A 0-0 What a sensible choice for the New Year's day game. I'm amazed anyone from Barnsley turned up. Including the players. 6th Oldham Athletic H 0-0 FA Cup 3rd We don't take our chances. 13th Oldham Athletic A 1-0 Payton scores. 20th Crystal Palace H 1-1 Liddell scorer. 23rd Oldham Athletic A 1-2 FA Cup 3rd Replay (Out) Oldham go one up, Redfearn equalises. Then Referee George Kane intervienes and gives Oldham a penalty for absolutely no reason what so ever. Video evidence shows that there was noone anywhere near the Oldham attacker. Where is the FA enquiry? I bet there would have been one for Scumchester. The ref's bank accounts should be watched for any improper funds transfers from Oldham based buisnesses. If ever there was a case of a team being robbed this was it. Top of Page

February

3rd Watford H 2-1 Payton and Archdeacon scorers. 10th Tranmere Rovers A 3-1 Redfearn penalty and Payton double as Rovers are down to 10 men. 20th Birmingham City A 0-0 Rammell sold to Southend and Regis moved in opposite direction as makeweight. 24th Sheffield United A 0-1 Regis has his first bench appearance. 27th Millwall H 3-1 Liddell one and Payton double. Regis makes his first appearance off the Bench. Top of Page

March

2nd Stoke City A 0-2 9th Ipswich Town H 3-3 The most horrific five minutes ever whitnessed by any Barnsley Fan. The Reds were cruising at 3-0, Liddell scores and Redfearn 2 (1 penalty). 5 minutes to go Watson tries to take the ball around the closing down attacker as he had done earlier in the game. He failed. Town pull one back. Then we just fall apart and as soon as the second goes in we were doomed. Fortuneatley the Ref blew the whistle before Ipswich could get a forth. It has to be said that some of the talk at half time was, "Well they've lost leads like this before" and then it happened. Are the doubters right? NEVER. 16th West Brom A 1-2 Payton scores. 19th Huddersfield Town H 3-0 Eaden, Redfearn and Archdeacon the scorers, as we show the Town what home advantage means. 23rd Southend United H 1-1 Redfearn scores. 30th Port Vale A 0-3 Van Der Velden makes his debut for the club. It's a long way home. Top of Page

April

2nd Norwich City H 2-2 Redfearn and Payton scores. 6th Sunderland H 0-1 8th   Wolverhampton Wanderers A 2-2 Moses and Payton scorers. Payton's 20th the first time in ages that the club has had a 20 goal a season striker. 13th Reading H 0-1 20th Portsmouth A 0-0 Regis gets his first start for the club. 27th Luton Town A 3-1 Victory at last! Send's the Town down into division 2. O'Connell and Redfearn double. 30th West Bromwich Albion H 1-1 Albion keeper fluffs one as Regis gets his first for the club.Top of Page

May

4th Grimsby Town H 1-1 Redfearn scores his 15th of the season. Top of Page

A disapointing finish to a season that promised so much.
