Writer in Residence???? (Whatever that means). Ian Macmillan -

According to the Daily Star on Friday 30th May 1997, The 'bard of Barnsley' - has been appointed as the league's first ever writer-in-residence, to "capture Barnsley's success". He IS a Reds fan - he used to be on Mark Radcliffe's evening show on R1, and was always spouting off about Barnsley. Possibly the scruffiest bloke you're ever likely to meet. Has also made appearances on Yorkshire TV's Calendar and Tonight. Strange to think of this as Danny's first premiership signing! What's next? The Roundsmen are Danny's "Official Theme Music" producers.

Oakwell 1575am

Says it all really. Home matchday radio on the above frequency. To phone them call 01226 215752. Only thing is I can't get the bloody station sat in my car in the club car park! Top of Page

Stadium Plan

Capacity : About 19,300 (All Seated thanks to Taylor.)

* note. A small portion of terracing remains behind the Spion Kop end. It is never used because we can't go against the wishes of the government. I has to be said that if it wasn't for the Taylor Report the ground would probably all looked like this so perhaps its not such a bad thing really. I have seen TV footage from the early 70's, and until 1992 the ground had changed very little from the early sixties. (Apart from a bit of extra concrete.) The club won an award for best ground redevelopment in 1996.
Plans for further redevelopment due includes a new Kop stand. Upgrading of West Stand. (Put on hold due to residential complaints.)  Top of Page
