Rollercoasters can be very difficult to build effectively. How can you keep the excitement high, but the intensity and nausea low? Take a look below for a few clues.

If you have a big drop on a rollercoaster followed by a sudden sharp turn you should bank this corner, which will reduce the lateral G-force. You should also make the corner gentler. You will be surprised how changing corner gradients can reduce intensity.

Make sure the guests can see the ride. If there is a path going directly over a drop on a rollercoaster, not only do the guests on the path get a good look, but the people on the rollercoaster experience what I call the head chopping manouevre. This is where it looks as if the rollercoaster is too close to the path and the guests will lose their heads but actually there is plenty of clearance. This increases excitement.

Have another thrill ride near the entrance to a rollercoaster. Guests can go on the thrill ride and hopefully gain some courage to go on the intense rollercoaster.
