Border Tip

Adding a Table to Your Page for Border Alignment
Using an INVISIBLE spacer.gif.
Method

rule

This method works for me... I use a table with 2 columns. The first column holds a small invisible graphic with the width set to the width of my border on my background. This will hold the column with the text and images just to the right and not over the border. This helps with the viewing of border pages with different resolutions and browsers.

After the <BODY> tag, insert the following table:

<TABLE BORDER=0 WIDTH=100% CELLPADDING=0 CELLSPACING=0>
<TR>
<TD ALIGN=left VALIGN=top>

<ADD THE SPACER.GIF HERE>

Use the width of the border area of your border background, (not the width of your whole background ) set the height to anything you want. I'm using 100 here as an example since it will work with a lot of my borders, you can adjust the width as needed for the border background image that you're using.

<TD ALIGN=left VALIGN=top WIDTH=100%>

Add your body text and images here.

</TD>
</TR>
</TABLE>

Note: Be sure to add the closing tags to your table! Otherwise your page contents will not show up in the browser. Also, be sure to add your closing </BODY> and </HTML> tags to the end of your page.

That's it! This way your formatting will look nice in both, Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

All of the sets will include the invisible spacer.gif.

Note:
Be careful of the lines and graphics that you choose to use. If they are too long, they will stretch your page out of the viewing area, To fix this, use the length and width tags when adding your graphics and then resize as necessary, or use an image editing program, like Paint Shop Pro to resize the images before adding them to the page. GOOD LUCK!!
