William Martin Castleberry was born in Virginia in 1755. He served in the
Revolutionary War and received a pension for his service. In his pension
application he states that he was living about 25 miles above Augusta,
eorgia at the time he joined the service. This very likely is what was to
later be Wilkes County, Ga. After the war he settled in Spartanburg County,
S.C. probably along with his brothers, sisters and parents. It was there
that he married Elizabeth Smith. In l804 they migrated to Livingston County,
Kentucky and later living in Caldwell and Hopkins County, Ky. He buuilt and
operated the first grist mill in Caldwell County in 1810. His first wife died
between 1820 and 1826 in Hopkins County, Ky.[jacastleberry2.FTW]
