Inside Outside

(Who Cares Part II)
You can see it on TV every night
Managers with smiles as bright as light
Proud to present their latest deals
Opening new markets is their appeal
But who cares about the human rights?

The way they move is full of pride
Negotiations went on through all the night
But finally an agreement has been made
And everyone speaks of a historical date

Despair is everything they know
Out in the streets around the palace
They have no food, they've lost their pride
The army's preparing for a blow
Poor people considered to be a malice
Mustn't be seen by the partners inside

The way they move is full of grace
For this is their ever greatest victory
In the world of business and economy
They now have found an important place

A group of students unfold a banner
With their demand for human rights
Soldiers take them in the usual manner
And execute them in the same night
Journalists who witness this inhumanity
Are locked up and sentenced for dishonesty

Inside the palace no one learns
Of what is going on outside
No matter how the country burns
Nothing will spoil the governors' pride

Out in the world the news runs around
Commoners wonder how this can be
Politicians send a protesting note
Dictators decline it
"Don't mix up in our innerstate affairs!
Better satisfy the mob by increasing our commerce"
