Years ago I knew the meaning of that special word
Knew how it was when a female head lay on my shoulder
Angry words were the last thing I heard
Feelings towards me have since grown colder
But who cares about a lonely man
It was spring outside
The sky was blue and the sunshine bright
The birds were singing their arrival
The couple in the park seemed worlds apart
A strange view for the people
The girl a beaty with bright blue eyes
He seemed the sadness in person
Could her smile change the situation?

The girl tried hard to show the man
How much she was in love (but was she really?)
She seemed attractive to anyone
But loneliness makes blind

The summer came, the girl still tried
To reach the man so far apart from her
He hadn't had a woman for lots of years
And when he tried he ended up in tears
For in case they didn't have a man
Their aim was sex, not making longer plans
So he had lost his belief in honesty
In any woman he only saw his enemy

The girl tried hard to tell the man
How much she was in love (I still couldn't believe it)
She seemed attractive to anyone
But loneliness makes deaf

In autumn when the winds blew cold
The girl found out she'd lost
She learned in conversation with his friends
His heart was filled with frost
In thickening fog she lost his sight
And turned to another toy
He disappeared from this world
In winter as a forgotten boy

The girl tried hard to get the man
She wanted in her bed
But loneliness makes people cold
And frozen hearts are dead
