Lost Rainbow

(Who Cares Part IV)
To keep our wealth growing we need more industry
Production is a major part of our economy
Don't worry about waste, it brings additional jobs
And anyway, the stocks climb to fantastic tops
Who cares about the threatened nature?

Green hell - a paradise untouched
Wide river - tree giants on the shore
Strange birds who loved their trees so much
This place had seen no man before
Warm rain came down on every day
Made nature shine the brightest way
Surroundings for the birds to play
This climate made the rivers flow
Flowers and trees would always flow
And the rainbow said hello

But then came men with strange ideas
Began to set the land on fire
Speeches would destroy all fears
People's wealth will soon be higher
The fires paint the sky blood-red
But the money they will get
Makes their hearts feel no regrets
So in the end where tree trunks ly
With no more rain the county's dry
And the rainbow says goodbye

The rainbow says goodbye... where has it gone... no more rain... no more life... desert moves on... a new city... more pollution... where is nature... the rainbow

Only when the last tree has been felled
The last fish caught
The last river poisoned
We know that man cannot eat money
There's a lot of truth in this
Although the white man refused to believe
What's the value of Indian wisdom
Against modern economical development?
Environment is a discussion topic in the old industrial nations
But the third world is happy about every job
They don't mind about trees in areas that are impossible to enter
Without economical value
And - we didn't burn down the whole rainforest
There's still more than enough left of it
But you must understand that we couldn't build our factory near the coast
The area is too overcrowded with other industry

Call the rainbow back... stop the destruction... let the forests survive... drive the desert back... where's the green hell... the birds... the trees... the rain... the swamps... the rainbow

When lack of rain made counties dry
And the rainbow said goodbye
Hope remained that time passed by
This hope was lost as deserts grew
And also rainbow's brilliant view
Economy cannot renew
