WCW Halloween Havoc Report - October 25, 1998

Live from Las Vegas, Nevada

• The Nitro Girls made their first appearance at a pay-per-view. They danced throughout the show.

• Rick Steiner Interview (Conducted by Gene Okerlund).
-Rick Steiner discussed his upcoming match with his brother, Scott Steiner. Buff Bagwell came into the picture. Bagwell said he had a change in heart, and everyone was sick of Scott Steiner. Bagwell wanted to be in the corner of Rick Steiner later in the show. Rick was hesitant to let Bagwell in his corner, but Rick eventually gave the okay to let Bagwell watch his back.

• Bonus Match: Chris Jericho defeated Raven by making him submit to the Lion Tamer, to retain the WCW Television Title.
-Before the match, Raven noted his latest losing streak, and said it was beyond his control, due to other problems. Raven was upset he wasn't told ahead of time he would work the pay-per-view, and said he wouldn't wrestle. Raven began to walk out from a Television Title match. Chris Jericho said it didn't bother him that Raven didn't want to work, but said the Jericholics wanted to see him wrestle, and sarcastically said he wanted to wrestle Raven. Jericho taunted Raven, which brought Raven back into the ring. Raven took a tremendous amount of punishment, and even escaped the Lion Tamer. Kanyon made his way in, and did absolutely nothing, although he was bumped out of the ring by Jericho. Raven set Jericho into the Even-Flow DDT, but Jericho reversed it into the Lion Tamer. This time, Raven quickly submitted, letting Jericho retain the Television Title.

• Hollywood Hogan Interview (w/Eric Bischoff and Elizabeth).
-Hollywood Hogan bragged about the attack on Horace the previous Monday on Nitro, and said he did it because Horace wasn't ready to join the NWO. Hogan then directed his attention to The Warrior, basically saying he would win the match later in the show.

• Wrath defeated Meng with the Meltdown.
-Wrath had a hard time fighting Meng. After executing the second Meltdown, Wrath took the win.

• Kidman was interviewed at the Internet broadcast location.

• Winner Gets Cruiserweight Title Shot: Disco Inferno defeated Juventud Guerrera with the Jumping Piledriver.
-Both wrestlers put up a very physcial fight. After Disco Inferno hit the Jumping Piledriver on Juventud Guerrera, he took the win, and would go on to wrestle Kidman for the Cruiserweight Title later in the show.

• Scott Steiner Interview.
-Scott Steiner first bragged about himself. Scott wanted to change things around, and wanted he and The Giant to take on Rick Steiner and Buff Bagwell, with the Tag Team Titles on-the-line. The Giant stepped up to the mic, and basically said Rick and Bagwell would go down. J.J. Dillon made his way out, and said the only way he would sanction the match was if Scott and The Giant agreed that if they lost the Tag Team Titles, then Scott would take on Rick in a 15-minute match. Scott agreed in a most confident way.

• Alex Wright defeated Fit Finlay with the Reversed Neckbreaker.
-Fit Finlay had the overall advantage, but Alex Wright was very smart. Wright successfully won the match after the Reversed Neckbreaker.

• Ernest Miller was interviewed at the Internet broadcast location.

• Bonus Match: Saturn defeated Lodi with the Death Valley Driver.
-Lodi was a real complainer while the match went on, when he actually claimed it was "revenge time." Saturn dominated Lodi, and easily finished off the match with the Death Valley Driver.

• Kidman defeated Disco Inferno with the Shooting Star Press, to retain the WCW Cruiserweight Title.
-Kidman and Disco Inferno put in a lot of effort. Disco could of had the win after the Jumping Piledriver, but couldn't make the pin on time. Kidman hit the Shooting Star Press, and retained the Cruiserweight Title.

• The debut of Konnan's music video was shown.

• Rick Steiner defeated Scott Steiner and The Giant with the Steiner Bulldog, to become the holder of the Tag Team Titles.
-As the match went on, Buff Bagwell turned on Rick Steiner once again, and attacked him. We all saw it coming, as the commentators noted. Bagwell ran back to the locker room. The fight basically turned into a handicap match at that point. The Giant actually went to the top-rope and then accidently hit Scott Steiner with a missle drop-kick. Rick hit the Steiner Bulldog, and took the win, becoming the holder of both Tag Team Titles. The two Steiner brothers brawled around the ring, and their match was underway.

• Rick Steiner defeated Scott Steiner with the Steiner Bulldog, retaining the Tag Team Titles.
-At one point during the match, Buff Bagwell brought down an illegal object. He hit Rick Steiner, but it wasn't enough to make Rick go down. Rick continued to stay alive, after being out-numbered by several NWO-Hollywood members. After Rick hit the Steiner Bulldog on his brother, Scott, he took the win.

• Scott Hall defeated Kevin Nash via Countout.
-Kevin Nash was injured early in the match, and Scott Hall bragged about it. WCW trainer, Danny Young, said Nash couldn't go on, but Nash insisted. Both had their ways with each other at different points. With encouragement from the fans, Nash hit Hall with several Jack-Knife Powerbombs. Nash didn't care about winning or losing, and made his way back to the locker room. Hall surprisingly won the match via Countout.

• Bret Hart defeated Sting by making him submit to the Sharpshooter, to retain the WCW United States Title.
-A very slow-paced match. Bret Hart dominated Sting in many unfair ways, which included the use of a baseball bat. After Hart strapped Sting in the Sharpshooter, Sting basically did not move, which gave Hart the win. Sting was carried out on a stretcher.

• Hollywood Hogan defeated The Warrior via Pinfall.
-As the match went on, The Giant, Vincent, and Stevie Ray made their ways in, but were immediately taken out by The Warrior. Hogan's belt was used. Hogan tried to blind The Warrior at one point with a ball of fire, which was ignited by a lighter. Hogan was busted wide open. Horace made his way in, and purposely hit The Warrior with a chair, after he was just recently attacked by Hogan on a previous Nitro. Hogan made the pin, and took the victory, making it Hogan's first defeat over The Warrior. Hogan told Horace, "You passed the test." Hogan was ready to set The Warrior on fire, but Doug Dillenger didn't let Hogan, while Eric Bischoff complained about it.

• Goldberg defeated Diamond Dallas Page with the Jackhammer, to retain the Heavyweight Title.
-After Diamond Dallas Page motioned for the Diamond Cutter, he was speared. Goldberg went down, however, since his shoulder was injured earlier in the match. DDP hit the Diamond Cutter, but Goldberg amazingly kicked out of the pin. Goldberg hit the Jackhammer, and took the win. Afterwards, Goldberg helped up DDP.

• Al Snow defeated Marc Mero (w/Jacqueline) with the Snow Plow.
-After both Al Snow and Marc Mero made their entrances, Jeff Jarrett made his way down. Jarrett wanted to take on Snow, but was told to head back to the locker room. Jacqueline interfered several times, where she was a distraction and attacked Snow physically. After Mero missed two of his finishing maneuvers -- Marvelocity and the TKO -- Snow took the win with the Snow Plow.

• LOD 2000 defeated The Disciples of Apocalypse and Paul Ellering with the Doomsday Device.
-LOD 2000 consisted of Animal, Hawk, and Darren Drozdov; The Disciples of Apocalypse consisted of Skull, 8-Ball, and their manager Paul Ellering. After LOD 2000 nailed 8-Ball with the Doomsday Device, with Drozdov making the cover, LOD took the win. Hawk was actually legal man, but instead, Drozdov made the pin. Hawk was upset that Drozdov made the pin, but all was worked out.

• Christian defeated Taka Michinoku (w/Yamaguchi San) via Pinfall, to become the new WWF Light Heavyweight Champion.
-Christian's brother, Edge, was shown in the crowd. Both Christian and Taka Michinoku executed some great aerial maneuvers. After Christian countered the Michinoku Driver, he reversed it, into a successful pin. Christian became the new Light Heavyweight Champion.

• Goldust defeated Val Venis (w/Terri Runnels) with a Low-Blow.
-When Val Venis was prepared to crack a sexual joke, he was interrupted by Goldust. The match between Venis and Goldust turned out to be very physical. Terri Runnels and Goldust were surprisingly wearing their wedding rings. Terri got on the apron, and ended up distracting Goldust. The plan back-fired, however, as Goldust finished off the match with a low-blow on Venis, using his leg.

• Backstage, Michael Cole gave an update on Hunter Hearst Helmsley, who was attacked by Ken Shamrock on Sunday Night Heat. Helmsley was re-injured, and taken to a local hospital. X-Pac stepped up to the camera, and said Shamrock would go down the following night on Raw is War. X-Pac said he would walked out with the European Title after his upcoming match with D-Lo Brown.

• X-Pac (w/Chyna) defeated D-Lo Brown with the Face Buster, to become the new WWF European Champion.
-As the quick match went on, Mark Henry made his way down to the ring. At one point, with help from Henry, D-Lo used the European Title as a weapon, but it wasn't enough to defeat X-Pac. X-Pac countered on of D-Lo's top-rope maneuvers, and nailed the Face Buster to become the new European Champion.

• Backstage, Michael Cole said there was a rumor going around that Paul Bearer was in The Undertaker's locker room. The Headbangers stepped up to the camera, and basically ripped The New Age Outlaws.

• The Headbangers defeated The New Age Outlaws by Disqualification.
-Both teams had execellent teamwork. When Billy Gunn was in trouble with The Headbangers, Jesse James lost his patience, and nailed The Headbangers with a boom box. The Headbangers took the win by Disqualification, but did not gain the Tag Team Titles. No signs of friction with The New Age Outlaws, since Billy Gunn did his two-words-for-you-suck-it chant.

• Backstage, Michael Cole confirmed that Paul Bearer had moved to Kane's locker room. Mankind and Mr. Socko talked about the Intercontinental Title match with Ken Shamrock.

• Ken Shamrock defeated Mankind via Mandible Claw, to retain the WWF Intercontinental Title.
-Both superstars were very daring, and executed some violent maneuvers. Ken Shamrock had Mankind strapped in the Ankle Lock, and Mankind applied the Mandible Claw to himself. According to the ring announcer, Shamrock retained his title as a result of the Mandible Claw. Shamrock told the referee it was his Ankle Lock that did the job, but apparently not. Following the match, Shamrock snapped once again, and went crazy. Mankind pulled out Mr. Socko and buried his hand right into Shamrock's mouth. Fans threw socks into the ring.

• Backstage, Michael Cole said he would be interviewing Vince McMahon later in the show. The Big Boss Man kicked Cole out of McMahon's personal area of the arena.

• Mark Henry defeated The Rock with a Big Splash.
-Before the match, Mark Henry dedicated a poem to Chyna. D-Lo Brown was scheduled to accompany Henry, but was no where in sight until later in the match. The Rock successfully hit the People's Elbow, but was pinned, after Henry executed the Big Splash, while D-Lo was holding Henry's legs for leverage during the process of the pin.

• Heavyweight Title Match w/Stone Cold Steve Austin as Guest Referee: Kane and The Undertaker went to an apparent No Contest, with no Heavyweight Champion decided.
-Before the match, The Undertaker and Kane shook hands, which meant, "May the best man win." Stone Cold Steve Austin was not in referee attire. Austin turned out to be a rather harsh referee. As the slow match went on, The Undertaker and Kane began to attack Austin. The two brothers, however, returned to their match. At this point, Paul Bearer made his way in, with a chair in his hands. Bearer volunteered to hit The Undertaker with a chair, but hit his son, Kane, instead. The Undertaker then nailed Bearer with a chair. Austin gave The Undertaker a Stone Cold Stunner. Austin set himself on top of the two brothers, made a pin himself, and declared himself the winner of the match. Austin challenged McMahon to fire him, but McMahon never appeared. Austin headed back to the locker room, in search for McMahon. Austin asked several people where McMahon was, but they didn't know. Austin came back down to the ring. Austin said McMahon didn't have the guts to fire Austin. McMahon appeared on the screen, along with The Big Boss Man, and said Austin's services were no longer required. McMahon told the crowd to take a photo of Austin, because it would be the last time we would see him. McMahon said, "Screw you, Austin ... you're fired." Austin said we hadn't seen the last of him, and requested for his music to played just one more time. Austin popped open some beers, and chugged them down.
