Dr. Ritsuko Akagi. Head of the Evangelion Development Project also known as Project E. She is a cool and intellectual beauty who doesn't talk much of herself because she sees it as "boring".Although she may act as the "unfeeling" scientist, she has a warm personality. She has been a friend of Misato and Kaji since their college days. She seems to know a lot of secrets regarding the Evangelions, the Angels and about Rei's past.

Her mother was the main developer of the MAGI Super Computers - the first biological computer. Her mother seemed to have a relationship with Commander Ikari. She killed herself, jumping from the MAGI, when she learned that Gendou doesn't need her anymore. Ritsuko admired her mother as a scientist, but hated her as a woman.
