Chrono Trigger. This game, when it came out, revoloutionized the RPG gaming world as we know it. This game has a unique battle system, where characters can perform magic attacks, or "Techs" either single, dual, with 2 characters attacking at the same time, leading to a stronger attack, or the devastating triple techs, where all three characters attack with explosive results. Add a different rock to different characters, and it yeilds different triple techs. Add that to an unpredictable and original storyline, and very cool characters, and you've got yourself a very sweet game. Another thing about Chrono Trigger is that your actions affect certain things in the game, like what characters you will aquire, or even what ending you will see! And the New Game(+) feature allows you to see one of over 15 different endings! Truly worth it! And unlike any RPG i've ever seen, it has many many many side quests, such as to restore a forest, or recharge a sun stone. these all lead to different endings, and are also very fun to complete, not to mention rewarding itemwise. you can get things such as Crono's best weapon, Magus' best equipment, an upgrade on the Masamune, and so-on. All in all, this is one of the best games i've ever played, right on par with the FF series, if not maybe a hair better.
