The Exodus – 2 B.E. to 2 A.E.

It is often said that the road to the void is paved with good intentions. It was certainly true with T'Lantico Antis. And it was true for those who killed him.

The first symptom was a gradual malaise among every race on Earth, although humans were barely affected at all.  Magic wielders noticed that their spells were becoming weaker and more difficult to perform.

Soon every nation's resources were focused on trying to discover the cause for this factor. A Dannan Druid named Liam is believed to have established the theory most likely to explain what happened. He believed that T'Lantico Antis' unique form of magic permitted him to store a great deal of magical energy, as well as draw magical energy from the environment at a greater rate and in greater quantities than a normal mortal. When the desperate counter-measure against Antis was initiated, the massive influx of energy somehow "burned out" the planet on a global scale. It caused a reaction where the rate of magic radiation on Earth increased to the point where it radiated more than it generated, the increasing deficit damaging the ability to radiate magic on what we now know as an atomic level.

The validity of the theory has been hotly contested, but Liam's theory was correct in anticipating the end result. Liam's tests showed that the level of magical energy was dropping exponentially. Within a few years, non-magical entities would die.

The Gods and the Wardens joined with the Magus Alliance and the governments of Earth to develop a plan of action. The Wardens searched for and discovered an unpopulated world that would serve as a colony for the displaced Earthians. It had been selected previously for the citizens of the planet Draenaer, which was dying due to an unstable sun. It was decided that the Draenaerians and Earthians would share the planet Nemedia.

Throughout each world a system of monoliths would be erected. These monoliths, powered by Wardens, would serve as a mass-teleportation system. The monoliths were linked to a central monolith-system that would receive the immigrants at Nemedia.

One year had passed since Antis' death. Buildings and objects constructed with magic were falling apart. Thousands of historic documents were crumbling into dust, while millions were becoming weaker, and dying. The monolith system was turned on, and the Earthians were encouraged to enter the nearest portal immediately. Their governments were permitted to use any means necessary to get their people off of Earth. There are records of forced removal and marches by several governments. Others were able to encourage their people to relocate with little convincing. Over the course of one year, over 74% of Earth's non-human population moved to Nemedia. Humans as a whole chose to remain on Earth, as the death of magic would barely affect them.

By the end of the second year, the people of Earth and Draenaer were successfully relocated to Nemedia. The portals were closed behind them and the wardens prevented any access to Earth, isolating the non-magical planet for its safety, and the safety of any who would stumble across it.

The first five years on Nemedia were filled with contention as new nations attempted to rise, while older nations struggled to maintain their existence. It was a period of instability and fear, where few records exist of the small wars that erupted in pursuit of homes. The new citizens of Nemedia were regressing sociologically, and the coming war would only accelerate this regression.
